New Holland
This engine is one of two hit and miss engines I've built with trip ignitors, the other being my Galloway. Spark is produced by interupting the current through an inductor rather than the primary of a normal two winding ignition coil. The fuel tank is in the base of the engine and the drawings call for the fuel pickup to be above the fuel level. The engine therefore runs on fuel vapors. I had little success with this method and dropped the fuel pickup into the fuel with a check valve at the foot. The engine runs better this way but is still very particular and finicky as to the air and fuel settings. The engine runs better when cold and tends to quit when hot. Frustrating!
