My shop is very modest but has spread out somewhat over the years from the corner of my basement pictured here. You can see my Craftsman 12" long bed lathe and my Bridgewood Knee type mill with a drill press along side. I started out with a 6" lathe and a milling attachment. I built two locomotives with not much more than those and a few hand tools. Now I also have a 9" South Bend lathe that is old but in excellent condition with all the niceties including a taper attachment. I have a large bead blasting machine, a metal cutting bandsaw, and the usual tooling that goes along with this equipment tucked away in other parts of the basement. I can usually find everything, but at times I get carried away with a job and have to regroup and clean up to locate some thing that got buried.
